Underwater 4 _ 28x35cm
This work is part of an evolving reef series
Each painting stands on its own, but together they form a broader exploration of layered, living environments.
Inspired by reef systems, these pieces are built through glazing, allowing depth to accumulate gradually. Colours shift and interact across translucent layers, creating a sense of movement and emergence.
Acrylic on canvas forms the foundation, with moments of charcoal and soft pastel introduced as contrast, adding raw, tactile interruptions within the fluid paint.
The balance between control and looseness is intentional, echoing the way natural systems grow: structured, but never rigid.
The works sit between abstraction and landscape. They suggest coral forms, currents, and organic growth without becoming literal, leaving space for personal interpretation.
Each piece can exist independently or as part of a larger grouping, offering flexibility in how they are experienced, whether as a single focal point or a layered visual conversation across multiple works.
