The Ripponlea Estate is one of the most beautiful gardens in Melbourne. Its beauty inspired me to paint there en plain air one day in December 2020, and capture the quiet pond with its blooming lilies.
 
I wanted to keep it loose and colourful, and capture the scene in an expressionistic style.
Thus, the 'Lilies in Rippon Lea' were created.
